Single Screening Rentals
VDB provides titles in its archive for screening rental on BetaSP, MiniDV or DVD formats (HD titles are available for rental on BluRay). When placing a single screening rental please let us know your planned screening date. VDB will ship for delivery a few days prior to your event. A single screening rental license allows for one scheduled screening of the work in your classroom, theater, or exhibition space on the selected date. Please place separate orders for each unique screening rental date you may have. Single screening rental fees for single titles typically range from $75 to $125.
Library Purchases
VDB provides educational institutions with Library Purchases on DVD. (HD titles are available for purchase on BluRay) These purchases are intended for classroom screenings and research use. The purchase comes with full public performance rights at the location of the purchasing institution for the life of the disc. External loans, duplication, streaming uploads, and looped exhibition are not permitted under this license type. Library purchase fees for single titles typically range from $225 to $350.
Archival Purchases
VDB provides collecting institutions the option to purchase Archival copies of its titles on BetaSP or DigiBeta for accession to their permanent collection. (HD titles are available for purchase on HD-CAM.) These are stable and long lasting tape formats intended for archival storage. The purchase comes with full public performance rights for the life of the tape, for screening or looped exhibition at the location of the purchasing institution. (No loaning or touring rights are included.) Archival purchase also includes duplication rights to transfer to other formats for screening purposes. VDB provides screening DVDs to Archival clients at-cost.
Exhibition Rentals
VDB provides titles in its collection on DVD for looped exhibition rental. (Requests for digital files can also be accommodated) Exhibition rentals are priced weekly and based on the duration of the show. Exhibition rental allows for the work to be shown continuously on a monitor or as a projection. Often institutions with exhibitions over two months find it more cost effective to make an Archival Purchase of the exhibited titles. Individual Purchases
The majority of work in the VDB collection is not priced for individual purchase. We recommend that individuals interested in VDB works visit our screening room or place a patron request with their affiliated library. Titles that are available for individual purchase on DVD can be located by searching the tag Home DVD. Individual purchases come with no public performance rights and may not be screened in any commercial, classroom, theatrical or institutional presentation.
Additional Notes:
• All formats and use types are not available for every title in our archive. (For example our box sets are produced as DVD only and made available only for Library Purchase. ) The pricing information attached to the title should accurately outline all options we are able to provide.
• All tape formats are NTSC standard. Our DVDs are NTSC, however they are formatted for Multi-region and should work in most international players. VDB can provide PAL transfers of the distributed tapes. Please contact us directly for a transfer quote.
