Kate Horsfield / Founder Kate Horsfield has worked in the media arts field as a producer and distributor since 1976, and was the Executive Director of the Video Data Bank from1988-2006. Horsfield produced Ana Mendieta: Fuego de Tierra, a collaborative project with Nereyda Garcia-Ferraz and Branda Miller which focused on the life of the Cuban American sculptor, Ana Mendieta. She has produced many video events including the Video Drive-In at the Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon, Spain, at IVAM Julio Gonzalez in Valencia and Barcelona, Spain with the Center for North American Studies. The Video Drive-In was staged in 1990 in New York's Central Park (in collaboration with the Public Art Fund and Central Park's Summer Stage Program) for an audience of 5,000 people. Horsfield also produced the 6-hour VHS compilation of video works Video Against AIDS and the 17 hour Surveying the First Decade: Video Art and Alternative Media from the United States, 1968-1980. She is also on the Board of the Independent Television Service. |
