Margarita Dorovska

Margarita Dorovska, curator from Sofia, Bulgaria, has recently joined Video Data Bank for a CEC ArtsLink-supported residency that will continue through mid-November. During her stay here she will be looking into the Video Data Bank collection and meeting artists, curators, researchers and writers based in Chicago, with the intention that many of the encounters here will materialize into future collaborations and exhibitions.

Margarita has been working with InterSpace Art Centre in Sofia since 2005, where she has organized exhibitions and events, hosted artist residencies and commissioned new work. One of the major projects she has produced for InterSpace is Transitland: Video Art from Central and Eastern Europe 1989-2009 - a collection of a hundred video works reflecting the transformations after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Margarita holds an MA in curating contemporary art from Royal College of Art, London.

While in Chicago, Margarita is happy to discuss her projects with or show videos to any interested students, professors, or classes - please email info@vdb.org to set up an appointment or just stop by VDB to say hello!
