I Say I Am considers the early histories of video and performance art done by women, and examines the implications of female artists using the video medium to document the use of performance art in light of the similarities both mediums share in their ability to communicate the complexities of female subjectivity and to combat the simplified universalization of feminine psycho-sexual identity common in art history and criticism.
