Submissions

Video Data Bank represents artists' moving image work. We urge artists to familiarize themselves with the VDB collection before submitting their work for consideration. Please note that VDB does not distribute feature films, traditional documentaries, or multi-channel works intended primarily for gallery installation.

The VDB Viewing Committee reviews submissions on an ongoing basis.  Due to the number of submissions we receive every year, we ask that you submit no more than three works at a time. VDB is a non-exclusive distributor, and primarily represents work produced in unlimited edition form. Titles in the collection are made available for archival purchase, educational purchase, looped exhibition, and screening rental.

If you would like to submit work for consideration, please send a video link, including any necessary access passwords. If you prefer, we also accept DVD or Blu-ray copies (sent in a bubble-filled envelope — no fiber-fill please), to the following address:

Acquisitions — Video Data Bank
School of the Art Institute of Chicago
112 S. Michigan Avenue
Chicago, IL 60603, USA

Along with the video submission, please include any relevant supplemental materials such as a biography, videography, press, etc.

We are a non-profit organization with a small staff, so please understand that the selection process can take some time. If you are submitting a video link, or if you have questions about submitting your work to VDB, please contact info@vdb.org.
